Java Moon











 
Java Moon was developed as a romantic hideaway. It is a private, calm, and rejuvenating place to be on holidays, weekends, or for an afternoon. It is a haven close enough, but a world away from the hectic city. What we wish to offer is the experience of an informal and laid back, yet sumptuous lifestyle in the tropics.

Ambience:
The vibe at Java Moon is peaceful, serene and very romantic. This feeling is brought on by the lake that has sense of timelessness. The surrounding garden has been carefully planned and lovingly tended. It is lush, tropical and full of colour. The garden has a wonderful collection of palms from all over the world, and it teems with exotic birds and wildlife. From your verandah you can watch monkeys, iguanas, otters and tortoise' "doing their thing." At sunset the distant sounds of temple bells and chanting, mixed with bird calls is haunting and truly exotic. At night fireflies, crickets, and frogs start up a jam session of tropical sounds. The stars and the full moon combine to weave a spell, and transport you to a magical place.

Location:
Java Moon is located beside Bolgoda Lake, the biggest inland lake in Sri Lanka. It is a forty five minute drive from Colombo, and a ninety minute drive from the airport. It is in the wet zone of Sri Lanka, and is the drainage basin for the rainforest not too far away.

Features:
The villa is fully staffed and catered. It has two houses that function as two suites. The master suite has an attached infinity pool, and an expansive view of the lake. It can sleep a couple and a child. The second suite, is airconditioned, has a garden view, and a den to watch DVD's and cricket matches. It can sleep a couple and two children. Beds have mosquito nets and fans overhead. The Dining area can vary depending on your mood.

Things to do:
Canoeing on the lake early morning or in the evening is really lovely, and very good exercise. Boat rides and lake fishing is exciting as there is a possibility of spotting crocodile, or catching an estuarine trout. A massage in the garden by the lake is not to be missed. The atmosphere is conducive for painters and writers to be inspired. Shopping and sightseeing in Colombo, and a trip to Mount Lavinia beach are other possibilities. However, lazing around the pool, baking in the sun, and eating divine food are the best activities of all.

Cuisine:
We have versatile cooks at both villas. The menu is customized based on what is in season, and a guest's preference. A questionnaire is forwarded with each confirmed reservation. Not only will you be served delicious food, but you are welcome to learn to prepare your favourite dishes. We book our villas on a full board basis, as we need to stock fresh supplies with each reservation. The day starts with breakfast, then lunch, teatime and cake, cocktails, and finally dinner by which time you will be in a stupor. We beleive in keeping our guests well fed at all times.
